In 2014 Sheila How and George Lee from the Canadian province of Ontario visited Rancho Aloha with their sons Richard and Kyle. We walked through the coffee orchard, reviewed the systems for processing coffee cherry into green coffee beans, and pan-roasted coffee. It was great fun, and they left the farm as experienced coffee roasters and with coffee, pomelo, and lilikoi for the next morning’s breakfast.
In March of 2017 Sheila, George, and Kyle made a return visit to Rancho Aloha. (Richard was in the frozen Northland at Waterloo University studying for upcoming examinations.) It was wonderful to see them again — and to receive gifts of Canadian maple syrup and Canadian ice wine tea. The tour of the orchard this time was enlivened with a mini-rain shower, and followed by a repeat performance by Kyle as a pan roaster of 100% Kona Coffee. As always, it was great to have enthusiastic visitors.
So those of you who have yet to visit Rancho Aloha, please follow the example of our Canadian friends and come visit us when you are next in Kona.
If you have already visited and would like to visit again, please do! We will welcome you with aloha and a cup of freshly brewed 100% Kona Coffee.
